Homework
Homework will be assigned (almost every) Monday through Thursday each week. There will not be any written homework assigned on weekends. Rather, students will be asked to do some reading over the weekend. Students must read for at least 15 minutes at some point each weekend, and record the title of the book they read on their Reading Log. The Reading Log should be initialed each time a child completes his or her weekend reading.
Homework assignments for each night will be copied by students into the Homework Copybook. Spelling homework should be completed directly into the Spelling Copybook. Weekend reading (each child will read for 15 minutes over the weekend) will consist of students recording the title they chose to read, and parents signing or initialing next to the title to confirm that the assignment was completed.

Tests
Students will be told about upcoming tests about a week in advance (sometimes less, if there is a weekend in between). I will never assign a test date the night before the test is being given. Students will always be given a fair number of study days. Sometimes, students will receive a study sheet which can be used to study for the upcoming test. If a study sheet is not provided, students will have ample notes, classwork, and homework to study from for the test.
All graded tests will be sent home in a Test Folder.. When tests are sent home, students are to have them signed by a parent or guardian so that the tests can then be returned to school. Getting a test signed by a parent or guardian is considered homework, and it is the responsibility of the student to remember to get it done. (Of course, there are always extenuating circumstances, but we are attempting to foster self-reliance in our second graders!)

Behavior
This year, we will be using a behavior calendar. However, rather than a color chart, students will simply receive a note on the calendar stating whether they have missed homework assignments or made poor behavioral choices in school. If a child does not need a note on the calendar, he or she will receive a stamp or sticker marking a good day at school. Parents are asked to review the calendar with their child each night to ensure that both the parents and teacher are working together to make the school year successful.
Absence and Lateness
If your child will be absent or late, please call the school office and inform them in the morning. The number for the school is (215)-742-1127. Students are asked to provide an absent note on the day they arrive to school after an absence.
Uniform Policy
A detailed explanation of the Resurrection Regional Uniform Policy can be found on the school website, which can be viewed by clicking the pink button below. Beginning the first day of school and ending about mid-October, students are expected to wear the Summer Uniform to school each day until October 14th, when the Winter Uniform becomes mandatory.
Scholastic Book Orders
There will be times when I will send home a Second Graders catalog from Scholastic Reading Club with books and other items you or someone you know may be interested in purchasing. These are completely optional book order forms, and you are by no means obligated to participate. However, I do offer the forms because our classroom gains points for each purchase made, and these points can then be used toward the purchase of books and other items for our classroom! If you would like to shop online rather than through the catalogs sent home, you can use the pink button below to visit the Scholastic Reading Club website. Remember that if you are ordering online, our classroom can still receive points from your purchase if you use the Classroom Activation Code: NKXKX
